Dr. Elizabeth Aranda (USF) discusses the current political climate engulfing im/migrants’ lives, challenging their rights to work, to obtain health care, to travel, to worship in community, and to carry on with their everyday lives. Recent laws, instilling fear in im/migrant communities, have led some to simply leave the state. This talk will discuss the implications of these laws and what we all stand to lose. Â
Presented alongside the Smithsonian's "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America," an interactive exhibition that explores American democracy from revolution to civil rights and beyond, running March 23 - May 19. Free admission, free refreshments, and chance to win 4 tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays game and other prizes!
