Will Johns + T Bone Hamilton
In April of 2024 British Blues artist Will Johns is flying into Florida from his native England to tour in support of his fourth and latest album Yin & Yang. Last April he played Boca Black Box, Boca Raton and Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa. This year, repeat shows at the two venues serve as the anchor dates for a month-long tour of the state.
A well-respected songwriter and magnetic performer, Will has released three previous albums and been nominated for ‘Best Original Blues Song’ by the British Blues Awards for three consecutive years.
As Will Johns states: “I’m really looking forward to playing more dates at some of Florida’s best known music venues and especially returning to Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa with local musician TBone Hamilton. My music was very well received last year and to be able to do shows all around the state this tour, for new audiences is very exciting. I have some great Florida musicians joining me and we will be doing a mix of originals and covers including a few blues and classic rock gems from my family legacy.”
The legacy Will speaks of is that of growing up in a renowned music family. He is the son of producer Andy Johns (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) and Paula Boyd and the nephew of celebrated recording engineer Glyn Johns (The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton). Will's aunt Pattie Boyd was famously married to both George Harrison and Eric Clapton inspiring some of their best-known hits.
Will started playing the guitar as a teenager, with plenty of encouragement from Uncle Eric. Like any creative artist though, it wasn’t long before Johns’ own inventiveness kicked-in and he soon developed his own distinctive sound that is both cutting-edge and steeped in blues history.
Will has performed alongside music luminaries including his uncle Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Nile Rodgers (Chic), Jack Bruce (Cream), Glenn Hughes, Dennis Chambers and Terry Reid just to name a few. With his own Blues Daddy show he has played European festivals, sold out club dates and in 2023 performed in Florida. As a member of the legacy shows The Music of Cream and The Cream of Clapton he has toured the USA, Canada and Europe.
