The Shooters We Know Exhibition Opening Reception

Participating Artists: Greg Bryon Joey Clay Jeremy Deputat Giancarlo Giusti Tobin Green Amy Martz Chloe Reyes Sal Rodriguez Joe Walles Guest Curator Statement: “As an artist working professionally for over 25 years, I have had the privilege of meeting and even collaborating with other artists around the world. Some of my most cherished friendships and collaborations have been with artists whose primary medium is photography. Unlike painters or muralists, photographers–or “shooters” as they are often called–don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Some of their best work is often capturing someone else’s moment or documenting another artist’s work. The focus then becomes the subject they were shooting, while the artists themselves stay invisible. “While many shooters I’ve met over the years enjoy the anonymity as creators while letting their work stand on its own, every artist wants, on some level, to be recognized for a lifetime of dedication to their craft and the body of work they leave behind. The Shooters We Know puts the spotlight on a few artists that deserve to be celebrated for their exceptional talent. Each artist in this exhibition is someone I have known, respected, and even collaborated with on some level throughout my career. “For this exhibition, each artist was given complete freedom to present the work they felt defined them as artists. For some, it is the work they shoot professionally, while others are presenting visuals they have never had the opportunity to exhibit before.” About the Curator: BASK is the moniker of Ales “Bask” Hostomsky, and for over 20 years, his richly textural work has captivated collectors and fans across the globe. His paintings, murals, and installations have been exhibited coast to coast as well as being featured in Hollywood blockbuster films like Iron Man 3 and Fast and Furious 8. He expresses his “anti-iconic,” satirical worldview through unrivaled graphic skill in his trademark multi-layered thought-provoking application. Influenced by western pop culture and his experience of oppression while growing up in then-Soviet occupied Czechoslovakia, BASK now proudly calls Florida home.
