Tumbleston will present an illustrated talk titled “Confessions of an Old Fossil Hunter,” offering attendees an engaging look at the world of fossil hunting for both beginners and seasoned hobbyists.
A Florida native, Tumbleston grew up in the central part of the state and now resides in Plant City. A longtime member of the Tampa Bay Fossil Club, he brings more than a decade of fossil‐hunting experience. His presentation will cover essential how‐to information for newcomers, including where to search, what to look for, how to obtain fossil permits, and how to read Florida’s rivers to improve your chances of success.
He will also outline the basic equipment needed for fossil hunting, what to wear, and—most importantly—key safety practices both in and out of the water.
In addition to the presentation, Tumbleston will display a variety of fossils he has collected over the years.
