In the late 1920s, Barbara McClintock challenged existing concepts of what genes were capable of when she discovered that some genes could be mobile, despite male colleagues believing otherwise.
Selected from the 2021 Voices of Women Theatre Festival, Carolyn Gage’s In McClintock’s Corn tells the true story of gender-non-conforming, neurodivergent geneticist Barbara McClintock, the first woman to receive an unshared Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her research on maize (corn) genetics.
In 2023, Carolyn Gage tells her true story. Get your tickets to the global debut of 𝙄𝙣 𝙈𝙘𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙠'𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 on February 23 - March 12, with two live-stream events on March 3 & 10. It’s a historical STEM story and a non-typical love story that tells of McClintock’s revolutionary quest to understand diversity in nature and to reframe “deviance” as an expression of natural variance.
