John McCutcheon is legendary — one of acoustic music’s most respected, influential, and beloved folk figures. He’s virtuosic multi-instrumentalist, fluent across a dozen instruments, and particularly noted for his stunning work on the hammer dulcimer.
Johnny Cash called him "the greatest instrumentalist I ever heard.” Pete Seeger celebrated him as "one of the best musicians in the USA".
A master storyteller who frequently appears at the National Storytelling Festival, McCutcheon seamlessly weaves razor-sharp humor, deep empathy, and a lifelong commitment to grassroots social justice into every performance. Expect heart, wit, and musical magic—this is live music at its most vibrant and alive.
Don’t miss this legendary musician at Troubadour Concerts, an intimate theater where every seat is up close and every note meaningful.
Opening the evening is contemporary singer-songwriter Michael Arthur, whose poignant songs and lush open-guitar tunings have earned him honors as a Mid-Atlantic Song Contest finalist and ACT Songwriters Shootout winner.
