"Metabolic Theory of Mental Illness" Presented at Tri-State NAMI Speaker Event

North Brunswick —National Alliance on Mental Illness of New Jersey (NAMI NJ) is pleased to collaborate with NAMI Southwest CT and NAMI NYC Metro to welcome Dr. Christopher Palmer as he discusses a breakthrough in understanding mental health. This speaker event will be held virtually on Thursday, November 9. Dr. Christopher Palmer, a leading Harvard psychiatrist, has written a book entitled, “Brain Energy,” which combines scientific research with advice, strategies, and new treatment pathways to help people improve their mental health. During his presentation entitled, “The Metabolic Theory of Mental Illness,” he will discuss the causes of mental illness and the connection between metabolism and the factors known to play a role. Palmer will make the case that mental disorders are actually metabolic disorders of the brain. For those interested in learning more, the virtual event on Zoom will be held Thursday, November 9, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Access to this co-sponsored NAMI speaker event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required and can be submitted by visiting www.namisouthwestct.org. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots, nonprofit organization aimed at improving quality of life for individuals and their families living with mental health conditions.
