Opera: Lucia di Lammermoor
Opera Magnifico presents Gaetano Donizetti's haunting and icy tragedy Lucia di Lammermoor on the Center Court stage of Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church on May 2 and 4. With their hallmark singing, Opera Magnifico brings this dramatic and thrilling opera to life, featuring a chamber orchestra of lively string players and their first production with woodwinds.
Lucia di Lammermoor is a tragic opera set in Scotland and based on Sir Walter Scott's The Bride of Lammermoor. The story follows Lucia Ashton, a young woman caught in a bitter feud between her family and the Ravenswoods. She is secretly in love with Edgardo Ravenswood, the last of his family, but their relationship is doomed by political and familial enmity.
Performances will be held Friday, May 2 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, May 4 at 3 pm. Tickets are available for purchase at OperaMagnifico.org.
