Winter's Day on the Farm at Fosterfields

Activity continues at Fosterfields throughout the cold months! At Winter’s Day on the Farm, you’ll see demonstrations of Ice Harvesting, Wood Sawing, Blacksmithing, and Maple Tapping. Ride the wagon under the stone arch and up to The Willows 1854 mansion, where you can tour the first floor and learn from docents about the history of the people who lived and worked in the house. Warm up inside the 1915 Farmhouse for a cooking demonstration on the antique woodstove. Snap a pic at the Carriage House selfie station where you can climb into a sleigh (and ring the sleigh bells!) from a century ago. Meet and greet Jersey cows up close in the lower barn and also see horses, goats, and sheep as you stroll around the barnyard. See how much Daisy, the Jersey calf that was born on the farm last year, has grown. Remember to steer yourself into the Transportation exhibit and learn about early 20th century travel, including the restored 102-year-old Model T that Caroline Foster drove. There’s also a craft for children in the Auditorium of the Visitor Center. Hours of admission are 10AM to 3PM, and the farm closes at 4PM. Dress for the weather, as the event is mainly outside with areas to warm up inside. The Ice Harvesting Demo may be subject to change, depending on the weather. There are no concessions on this historic property.
