Master Gardener Plant Sale

It's time to prepare beds, plant, and spruce up the landscape. Central Pennsylvania residents can get a head start by visiting the 25th Annual Plant Sale on May 20 hosted by Penn State Extension Centre County Master Gardeners. Centre County Master Gardener Plant Sale Expert advice and a variety of plants will be two of the features at the Saturday, May 20, plant sale to be put on by Penn State Extension Centre County Master Gardeners. The annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penn State Ag Progress Days venue on State Route 45, nine miles southwest of State College. Please use entrance K. There is free parking and admission to the event. The sale will offer more than 5,000 plants, including vegetables, herbs, native species, pollinator plants, and annuals. Master Gardeners will be on hand to help with plant selection and to answer questions on planting, insects, and caring for your garden. In addition, there will be gardening presentations, activities for children, a silent auction, and a garage sale of gently used gardening items. The Pasto Agricultural Museum, located nearby, will be open during the Plant Sale. The museum has approximately 1,300 rare and unusual farm and household items dating from 4,000 BC to the 1940s, or more than 6,000 years! Visitors can learn about early farm life as our nation grew while gaining hands-on experience with the history of agriculture and household equipment by turning the cranks and moving levers. The Annual Plant Sale is the main fund-raising event for the Centre County Master Gardener program. Trained by Penn State Extension, Master Gardeners are volunteers who offer area residents research-based educational programs in consumer horticulture and caring for the environment. Proceeds from this event will help the Centre County Master Gardeners continue to offer outreach and gardening education to the public.
