Webster University Film Series: Camille Claudel

Title: Camille Claudel Showtime: Friday, 1/30, at 7PM Box Office: Opens at 6PM in front of the auditorium entrance Location: Winifred Moore Auditorium, Webster Hall 1st floor, 470 E. Lockwood Ave., St. Louis, MO 63119. Parking: Webster U. campus parking in front of Webster Hall (Lot B) and behind the building (Lot D) is free to patrons on nights we are showing movies! Admission: $8 for general admission, $7 for seniors(60+), Webster alumni & students from other schools (Bruno Nuytten, 1988, France, 175 minutes) Co-written and directed by Possession DP Bruno Nuytten and co-produced by Isabelle Adjani herself, 1988’s Camille Claudel quickly established itself as a high mark in her already storied career, earning her second Best Actress nomination at the Oscars (not to mention a Best Foreign Film nod), her third César win in that category, and with the film winning the César for Best Picture besides. This biopic has Adjani as the title character, a young sculptor in a doomed relationship with the older, married Auguste Rodin (Gérard Depardieu). Camille Claudel is a lush story of art and madness and was shot by Pierre Lhomme, who like its star won a César for his work here, and who’d previously been the director of photography on the Adjani-starring Quartet (also playing as part of Adjanuary). In French with English subtitles.
