Webster University FIlm Series Presents Night of the Demon
(Jacques Tourneur, 1957, United Kingdom, 96 minutes)
Legendary director Jacques Tourneur (I Walked with a Zombie, Cat People) teamed up with one of Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite screenwriters, Charles Bennett (Blackmail, The 39 Steps, The Man Who Knew Too Much), on 1957’s horror film Night of the Demon. Starring Dana Andrews (Laura) as Dr. John Holden, who travels to London to attend a symposium on paranormal psychology with the intention of exposing devil cult leader Julian Karswell (Niall MacGinnis, Jason and the Argonauts). With Peggy Cummins (Gun Crazy) as the niece of one of Karswell’s cursed rivals.
With an introduction by Peter Hanrahan, facilitator of the scriptwriting program at Webster University.
