A panel discussion, led by faith leaders, will take place at 7 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to engage all community members, no matter their individual politics, in finding ways to remain hopeful as a major election looms with the accompanying worries about election results, the election aftermath, and the continued discord in our nation and the world. This event is organized by Webster Groves Presbyterian Church and will take place in their Sanctuary, 45 W. Lockwood Avenue in Webster Groves. The Rev. Dr. Susan Andrews, a PCUSA pastor for 50 years and moderator of the PCUSA 215th General Assembly, Dr. David Kimball, nationally recognized professor and chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, The Rev. Dr. Clint McCann, leading Psalms scholar and professor of Biblical Interpretation at Eden Seminary, The Rev. Isaac Wanyoike, parish minister, clerk and moderator of presbyteries in Kenya comprise the panel. The Rev. Edward Thompson, ordained by the Presbytery of Edinburgh in Scotland before serving various churches in the United States acts as the moderator. Following the panelists’ opening thoughts in the Sanctuary, audience members will have the opportunity to join the discussion, ask questions, and share their thoughts on how we can all remain hopeful. Refreshments and fellowship will follow in Fellowship Hall. Family, friends, and community members are welcome and invited to attend this important conversation about hope in hard times.
