St. Louis Africa Day Summit - Cultivating A Positive Pan African Narrative


Africa Day in St. Louis will be hosting its second annual Africa
Day Summit on Friday, May 27th- Saturday, May 28th. This is a virtual Summit.
 
The theme for this year is "Cultivating a Positive Pan African Narrative". This event will showcase the positivity in Black Community as we come together to strengthen the commonalities that bond us together.
 
Our goal for this year's summit is to cultivate new meaningful relationships within the African diaspora in St. Louis, reconcile differences, and continue to take strides forward and unified.
 
Our Keynote speaker is Dr. Benjamin Akande, he will be speaking on Friday at 3-4pm, topic is "My American Journey, a 43-year Odyssey". Followed by a team of International Trade Panelists to finish up Friday Night. On Saturday from 10am until 3pm, we have series of topics and panelists at the top of every hour.
 
On Saturday night, we will end with an in-person Networking Mixer from 6pm until 10pm at Sophie's lounge here in St. Louis.
 
Below is a summary of the topics:
 
Intercultural Dating: Panelists will share their life experiences with intercultural dating and lessons learned, culture clash and increased tension in the context of intercultural dating.
Combating Data Bias: This panel will explore how data bias can be problematic and how it has excluded key components of the holistic story.
Maximizing Your Why: A discussion on how to discover your "why", and tips for maximizing your why.
A Conversation in Cohesion: This panel will explore the existing social and structural framework for cohesion for Saint Louis' Black population?
Where Did We Go Wrong: This panel will discuss the historical context that has brought tension between the African American community and the African community.
International Trade Trading: This panel will enlighten us on the history of international trade and its origin, how it functions today, and our hopes for tomorrow.
