December 1860: In dismay at the possibility of southern states seceding from the Union, Ulysses S. Grant refers to then President James Buchannan as our "present granny of an executive." Obviously, Grant was less than enthusiastic about Buchanan's actions during the secession winter of 1860-61. Join Park Ranger Ashton Farrell to discuss why Grant felt this way by exploring what Buchanan was doing in the critical months leading up to the American Civil War during the winter of 1860-61.
