Memorial Day Celebration
The Sappington-Concord Historical Society will return to the green at St. Lucas United Church of Christ this year to host the biggest, little annual Memorial Day celebration in South County. This year’s event will be at 9 a.m., Monday, May 27, on the green at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road, 63126. The annual family-friendly celebration is free and open to the public.
This year’s event will feature distinguished speaker Daniel C. LaFata, Assistant Chief of the Mehlville Fire Protection District. His presence at the event is intended to remind the community how first responders, many of whom are military veterans, keep us safe here at home. LaFata began his career as a volunteer firefighter for Shady Valley Fire Protection District. He has served the MFPD since 1995, is a pilot on the district’s drone team, and oversees the special operations team.
As with previous years, this year’s event will also include a ceremonial flyover by a local group of Stearman Biplane aircraft owners; a doves of peace release; and musical performances by Lauren Hoggatt, the Moolah Drum Corps and the Lindbergh High School Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and parking will be available on the east parking lot at St. Lucas. For more information, please visit www.schs.ws.
