In the Moon's Shadow - Chasing Eclipses --- Professor Angela Speck, U. of Texas, San Antonio

On Monday April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will be visible along a 100 mile wide path from the mid-Pacific Ocean through Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Parts of southeastern Missouri and southern Illinois are on the central eclipse path. The entire continental U.S.A. will see at least a partial eclipse. The sun will be about 97% covered as viewed from the St. Louis area. Dr. Speck will explain where, when, and why a solar eclipse occurs. She will also talk about safe ways to view the partial eclipse phases. Free solar eclipse glasses will be given to those who attend the program in person. E-mail [email protected] to receive Zoom link for virtual viewing. Sponsored by St. Louis Astronomical Society and NASA Missouri Space Grant Consortium at Washington University.
