Eric Woods, Firecracker Press Exhibit at Webster University

New Exhibit at Webster University. Firecracker press founder, Eric Woods brings a dynamic exhibit this October-November. A Missouri artist, Eric Woods has spent more than two decades revitalizing the tradition of letterpress printing by blending its tactile, historic beauty with fresh contemporary design. Since opening his St. Louis studio in 2002, Woods has created vibrant, hand-printed works that celebrate both art and community while honoring craftsmanship at the heart of American culture. His work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, featured in The New York Times. Beyond his studio practice, Woods has enriched Missouri’s cultural landscape by founding Central Print, serving as a preservation specialist for the Missouri Press Association Printing Museum, and launching the Cherokee Print League, while also representing American printmaking internationally through exhibitions and workshops in Japan. Rooted in Missouri yet reaching far beyond, Woods’ career embodies the innovation, imagination, and enduring spirit of American art. With his unique aesthetic to create designs that feel both nostalgic and contemporary, Eric created new, compelling bodies of work for this exhibition: The Crack Between Worlds - three panels digitally printed on canvas, Corner Cutter - Unresolved Issue No. 1 - sixteen pages offset printed on newsprint and Get Off My Lawn: An Installation - letterpress printed signs on paper.
