This is a true story set in 1968 and 1969, the height of the Vietnam War. This is a very personal story of an 82nd Airborne sergeant’s two-year experience in the army. He wrote it so that you can get a glimpse of what it is like for an average person to be in a war. Sgt. Becker has many close calls with death, especially in the final battle in Cambodia against overwhelming odds. This is also a love story. The love of his fiancée and the love of a five-year-old French Vietnamese girl carry him through the tough times.
