Often used in orchestra auditions, Vaňhal’s concerto is traditionally classical, filled with energetic melodies, bright flourishes and elegantly powerful cadenzas, giving voice to the dynamic range of the bass. Erik Harris, who is principal bass of the Saint Louis Symphony, is guaranteed to knock it out of the park.
