Katie's Giveback Day
Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria’s next Giveback Tuesday event will take place on Tuesday,February 27, at their Ballpark Village location. Funds raised from the day will be donated to the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank, a nonprofit organization working to end diaper need and period poverty for families in the St. Louis Region.
Twice a month, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria features a local nonprofit organization and donates 100% of profits from the entire day to the charity. So far, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $398,796 to local nonprofit organizations.
St. Louis Area Diaper Bank will use the funds raised from Giveback Tuesday to help cover the costs of purchasing diapers and period supplies which they provide to families and individuals in need. St. Louis Area Diaper Bank is the only organization in the St. Louis Region working to end diaper need and period poverty since 2014. These two issues continue to grow across the country and in the St. Louis Region. 1 in 2 families struggle with diaper need nationally and 46% of women and girls cannot afford their monthly supply of period products. To combat this, we work in partnership with 75 community organizations to provide diapers and period supplies to under resourced families and people with periods throughout the St. Louis Region. We distribute over 3 million diapers and 700,000 period supplies annually to over 80,000 people combined.
To date more than over 10 million diapers have been distributed in St. Louis. The Diaper Bank offers both emergency and long-term diaper distribution. This service is a much-needed resource since government programs – including food stamps and WIC – do not provide funding for diapers. Diapers cannot be obtained with food stamps and are classified with cigarettes, alcohol, and pet food as disallowed purchases.
