St. Louis, Missouri – Every day, global mission efforts help families rebuild after disasters, support children in vulnerable communities, strengthen churches, and bring hope to places where resources are scarce and suffering is great, and St. Louis has a role to play in that story. Central Baptist Church, where Reverend Dr. Anthony L. Riley is pastor, invites the public to engage this global vision by hearing guest preacher Reverend Dr. Jesse T. Williams, Jr. teach a Masterclass on “Missions: Biblical Call and Global Impact” at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30th, and preach at the 10 a.m. Missions Sunday Worship Experience. Both events are free and open to all.
Reverend Dr. Jesse T Williams, Jr. brings a rare blend of global mission experience, academic depth and St. Louis familiarity that makes this visit especially meaningful for our region. As the president of the nearly 130-year-old Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, one of the nation’s most influential mission conventions, and senior pastor of Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, he leads mission work that stretches across continents, strengthening churches and serving communities in places like South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Malawi. Many in St. Louis also know him as the former pastor of Central’s daughter church, Washington Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, also in Midtown, where he served for sixteen years and built a legacy of preaching, teaching and community engagement. With advanced degrees from Eden Theological Seminary, engineering and business training from the University of Kansas, leadership development through Harvard, and a published book on Christian doctrine, A Remedy for Itching Ears: Christian Doctrine Remixed for a New Generation of Believers, Dr. Williams offers a voice shaped by scholarship, mission work and real pastoral experience. This combination makes his insights especially valuable for our area.
