Community Day for Hope, Healing, and Wellness
The Black Male Suicide Awareness Initiative will sponsor Community Day for Hope, Healing, and Wellness on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10 am-2:00 pm. The event will be held at the Northside Movement Center located at 5939 Goodfellow Blvd.
The initiative’s goal is to raise awareness of the alarming suicide rate among young African American males and to identify support services for families. Suicide is now the third leading cause of death for Black males 15-24 years old. Black youth are nearly twice as likely to die by suicide as white youth.
The partner organizations that are part of the initiative to date will have tables set up at Community Day and be prepared to talk about their respective services. They include the African American Male Wellness Agency, Black Healers Collective, Freedom Community Center, Organization for Black Struggle, Save Our Sons-Urban League of Metro St. Louis, St. Louis County Behavioral Health Bureau, St. Louis County Health Department, and Williams & Associates.
Community Day is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
