Narrative Memory Through Dimensional Collage

In this hands-on workshop, personal memories and stories will be the starting point for richly layered 3D collages on cradled wooden boards. After constructing their own wooden canvases, students will dive into these newly stirred ideas, using a wide variety of materials such as decorative paper, beads, threads, shells, buttons and more (provided in class and brought from home) to explore their memories through collage. Instruction will include design elements such as composition, color, form and line as well as technical skills such as drilling, stitching, and additive and subtractive collage methods. On the final day of the workshop, finished pieces will be varnished and students will come together to reflect on the process and outcome. No supply fee; a $150 kit fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of the class. All levels welcome. *September 18 is the arrival day for this session. Workshop instruction starts on September 19 and ends September 22.
