Artist Bios:
Sally Rogers work as a quilter spans 50 of her years on the planet. Although Sally is mostly known as a professional folksinger, songwriter and educator, her “chocolate” is found at my sewing machine. Locally, she helped found the group Quilters: Piece for Peace in the 1980’s. All artwork is informed by our life’s experiences and while she does think a lot in terms of these elements when sewing, she considers herself an intuitive quilter. Sally is a member of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates).
Al Mathes has always had an extensive interest in landscapes whether that be hands-on structuring, as in landscape design and construction, or in his abstracted paintings. Lots of elements are at play - color, shape, format, etc. but at the center is one’s reaction to a presented situation. Sharing, memory, empathy and a sense of mystery are central concerns.
