“My voice teacher won't teach me that!” A solution for the most common complaint against classical or musical theatre-based training: the struggle to find relevance in training that doesn't translate to the genre where the student strives to succeed. In an essential evening for voice teachers and voice students, New York City teacher Melissa Cross, will enlighten and entertain even the mildly interested about the voice and how the world of vocal instruction has been polarized by the rising success of commercial music. By exploring the technical similarities and stylistic differences between genres (classical, pop, metal, etc.), confusion will be cleared to dismiss the judgmental thinking that has alienated vocal instructors and students.
