How does an artist paint love? Many people use hearts and flowers, but a few unconventional artists depicted cells and embryos. Dr. Gilbert will examine the work of Klimt, Kahlo, and Rivera, each of whom used the language of modern science to speak about love, passion, politics, and society. He will cover a fascinating period in history when science and art intermingled – when biology influenced artistic creativity and created a new language for political and social commentary.
