Digging Up Dinosaurs with Dr. Ken Lacovara

Over the course of five expeditions to southern Patagonia, Dr. Ken Lacovara and his teams of Drexel students have discovered bones comprising the most complete, super-massive dinosaur in history. The fossils from these expeditions are housed in laboratories on Drexel's campus, as well as at the Academy of Natural Sciences and the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Drexel alumni are invited to the Academy of Natural Sciences for a behind-the-scenes look at his ground-breaking discovery, and a private discussion led by Dr. Lacovara. Learn first-hand what it was like to travel to the remote badlands of southern Patagonia, to uncover more than 300 bones, and to transport this fragile cargo to the United States. Before the discussion, enjoy a reception during which private tours of the Fossil Prep Lab will be led by manager Jason Poole. Children will have the opportunity to play a trivia game with Dr. Lacovara as well as conduct their own fossil dig at the Museum's 'The Big Dig' in Dinosaur Hall.
