According to its traditional definition, classical music is defined as a “European musical period lasting from 1750 to 1830, when forms such as the symphony, concerto, and sonata were standardized.'
We would like to argue that at the time when this music was written, it was popular among royalty and the aristocracy. It became classical for all of us because it survived a test of time. It is still popular today. Directors are using it in the movies, marketers in commercials, phone manufacturers in ringtones. And we, music lovers, are still able to recognize them after the first couple of notes.
We believe that quite a few of contemporary 'popular' melodies will become 'classical' for our children and grandchildren.
'Multicultural Arts Exchange' presents
Concert pianist Lance Wiseman (USA), accomplished violinist Alexander Spivak (Israel) and classical soprano Tatyana Mykhailova in the brand new program 'Timeless Classics: From Beethoven and Broadway to ...Star Wars'.
