Foundations of Color Photography

This course is designed for students who have primarily been working in black and white photography and seek to explore color as an expressive medium to convey emotion, narrative, and atmosphere.Through investigating the intricacies of seeing and photographing in the full spectrum of color, students will learn to utilize color in image making to enhance the impact of their images. Color theory as it applies to photography will be addressed and practiced through a series of assignments.We will also cover technical aspects of color photography, such as utilizing custom white balance, understanding and controlling different types of light, enhancing images in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and optimizing colors for print output.
