Between Two Urns
Death is not a conversation that comes up in polite conversation often but we all have a fascination and curiosity about it. Who better to enlighten our macabre sentiments with death than two seasoned death professionals working on the opposite yet complimentary sides of the precipice. This program is a casual conversation with Anna Dhody, Co-Director and Museum Curator of the Mütter Museum, the Gretchen Worden Chair and Director of the Mütter Research Institute, along with Hospice and Palliative Medicine doctor and CPP Fellow, Dr. Miguel Paniagua, and our audience about what it means to be a death professional in all its trials and tribulations. Please bring your questions and curiosity, as our guest speakers talk shop 'between two urns'.
This free discussion will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 6:00 pm, virtually through a Zoom meeting. A What to Expect email will be sent to all ticket holders before the talk starts with information on how to log in. (Please note, tickets will be on sale until 5 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2020.)
The event is free but donations of any size are appreciated. Donations will support the work of the Friends of Laurel Hill and West Laurel Hill Cemeteries and the Mütter Museum. Donations can be made through the ticketing link.
BIOS
Anna Dhody, MFS is Co-Director and Museum Curator of the Mütter Museum, the Gretchen Worden Chair, and the Director of the Mütter Research Institute. She received her BA in archaeology from Boston University and her Masters in Forensic Science from The George Washington University. She has curated over twenty exhibitions at the Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and published papers in journals such as Scientific Reports, Genome Biology, and The New England Journal of Medicine. She is the author of a forthcoming children's book about the Mütter Museum and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. She strives to provide an educational and "disturbingly informative" experience to the over 180,000 visitors to the museum every year.
Miguel A. Paniagua, MD, FACP, FAAHPM, FCPP (he, him his) serves as Medical Advisor at the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Clinically, Dr. Paniagua practices consultative Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the faculty of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
