2017 Windgate ITE Open Studio Day, in memory of Lee Bender | Saturday, July 15th| 10:00 am – 3:30 pm | at NextFab, 2025 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19146
The public is invited into the Windgate ITE Residents’ shop for discussion surrounding their work as part of the 2017 Windgate ITE International Residency Program. This event will take place at NextFab located at 2025 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19146, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. This event is an opportunity to meet the resident fellows and hear about their concepts and works in progress, whether in wood, film, writing or other documentation.
2017 marks the 22nd year that the Center has sponsored the international residency program. Last year, to encourage the inclusion of an individual that is at the beginning of their career, we established the opportunity for a student to participate as a Windgate ITE Resident to join five artists, a scholar and a photojournalist.
The Windgate ITE Resident Fellows live, travel, and work independently and collaboratively in an intensive, 10-week program that began June 5, 2017. Typical activities include visits to local and regional museums, nature areas, historic sites, and public and private collections of art. The residency culminates in an exhibition, allTURNatives: Form + Spirit, opening August 4, and a gallery talk with the Resident Fellow’s the following day, Saturday, August 5, 2 pm – 4 pm. Sponsored and programmed by The Center for Art in Wood, and hosted by our partners, NextFab and the University of the Arts, the residency will focus on research, discussions, studio work, experiments and collaborations.
$10* for entry | $20 for entry and lunch
*Note: Students pay only $10 for entry and lunch–a valid student ID must be shown at entry.
REGISTRATION, PRIOR TO EVENT, IS REQUIRED: Please RSVP by contacting us at (215) 923-8000 or [email protected] and secure your spot.
