The People's Emergency Center invites Kentucky Derby enthusiasts and party-goers to an evening of Southern traditions with a Philadelphia flare at PEC's "Race to Make a Difference: a Kentucky Derby Benefit,� from 5 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 at the Loews Hotel on 1200 Market Street. Guests will experience the most thrilling two-minutes in horse racing this year on Jumbotron screens while supporting PEC's commitment to serving Philadelphia's homeless women and children. Since 1972, PEC has provided a soft landing for these families. Event emcee Lori Wilson of NBC-10 will greet attendees as they as they walk down the red carpet in extravagant fashions, and enjoy live music, southern-style hors d'oeuvres and signature mint juleps. Oversized hats adorned with flowers, feathers and bows will be judged in a hat contest by Project Runway contestant and Philadelphia native Kristin Haskins Sims.
