This year, we're celebrating the Fifth Anniversary of Lutheran Settlement House's Purple Ribbon Campaign. Launched in October 2004, this three month long city-wide campaign is one of the Bilingual Domestic Violence Department's many initiatives that createe awareness about domestic violence in Philadelphia. The campaign also raises the necessary funds to continue providing free of charge services such as counseling, court and medical advocacy, and education and training to the women and children who are victims or witnesses of domestic violence. The Purple Ribbon Fundraising & Awareness Campaign offers volunteers, organizations, community groups, and corporations an opportunity to reach Philadelphians and demonstrate its commitment to education and support to victims of Domestic Violence. The Festival takes place at Clark Park on Sunday, October 19, from 1pm to 4pm. The Festival of Hope will feature a press conference, followed by performances by percussionists Marcy Francis and Jann Jeffries, courtesy of The Spirituality Center. Choirs from local churches will also perform. In addition, Ronald McDonald® will perform courtesy of Cheryl and Frank Franco, our local McDonald's® owner/operators! Adults, kids, and families will get to meet and greet with Chio from Wired 96.5 FM's Chio in The Morning Show. Chio will be distributing giveaways, prizes, and much more, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. The Festival of Hope offers plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including carnival games, face paintings, masages, hand treatments courtesy of Kirsten Olson (Independent Beauty Consultant, Mary Kay Cosmetics), community resources, outdoor yoga (for a donation of $5), raffles, food, and more!
