Please join the Community Unity Music Festival on Saturday, August 3 when bands take the stage and the music gets Funky! This year the festival is back and will host, once again some impressive artists and guess what – the funk is back to. Taking the stage will be master Emcee Bootsy Collins – yes, the one and only Funketeer. Perhaps you have heard of him? From George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic to Bootsy’s Rubberband to the Community Unity Music Festival in the city of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. And he’s bringing some friends like special guest saxophonist, Branford Marsalis and music director and co/founder Justin Faulkner, just to name a few. The fun begins at Clark Park, 43rd & Chester Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19143 at 1 pm and goes until the last funky note at 7 pm. So, bring a chair and some friends and join in the funk on Saturday, August 3 (rain date Sunday, August 4). This event is free and there will be information booths, vendors and food trucks to visit throughout the day.
About the festival - The Community Unity Music Festival was founded by Faulkner’s mother, Carol in 2013, after the death of two of her nephews. Over the years, proceeds raised from the festival through contributions and donations have provided instruments and lessons to countless children in the Philadelphia area.
