On Sunday, October 4th, 2015 Concilio (The Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations) will host the 53rd Puerto Rican Festival Parade in Philadelphia. The parade will start at 10:00 AM at 16th and Ben Franklin Parkway, and extend the length of the Ben Franklin Parkway. This year's theme is, "Our Journey: From Puerto Rico to Philadelphia/Nuestra TrayectorÃa: De Puerto Rico a Philadelphia,â€? to celebrate the immigrants from Puerto Rico who have worked to provide better lives for their families.
There will also be two post-parade events, one hosted by Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez at Fairhill Park at 4th and Lehigh and another hosted by State Representative Angel Cruz at American and Cumberland Streets. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the parade and following events and celebrate the Latino community in Philadelphia.
