PARX RACING'S 2022 BETPARX PENNSYLVANIA DERBY
Parx Racing's Annual bet Parx Pennsylvania Derby brings one of the most thrilling horse racing events the sport has to offer and is the only racetrack in the country to offer two one-million dollar Grade 1 stakes races – the Cotillion and the betParx Pennsylvania Derby– on the same day. With a total of 10 stakes races paired with a dynamic array of family-friendly activities, PA Derby offers something for everyone, and is a day at the races you won't want to miss!
.Over 10,000 fans lined up outside Parx Racing, flooding the entrance and racing to grab a highly-coveted seat at one of the tracks' coveted umbrella-covered picnic tables – complete with a grilling station!
.The Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association (PHRA)'s Virtual Reality Racing Experience (must be 13+), the top horse racing VR experience in the country, will be available to guests, placing them right in the jockey's seat!
.PHRA's bar trailer will be serving up the event's specialty beer, "Chomping at the Bit," a New England-style Hazy IPA brewed by Urban Village. To add to the experience, ask for one of the souvenir mugs!
.Children are invited to participate in a RODY Pony Dash in which they bounce their way across the finish line on inflatable toy ponies.
.Family-friendly events and activities will include live music by Philadelphia's favorite Bigg Romeo band, pony rides, a bounce house, and horseshoe decorating, proceeds of which will support the high-quality aftercare provided to racehorses.
.Jameer Nelson, the former NBA star and St. Joe's alum who currently serves as the assistant GM for the Delaware Bluecoats, will be signing autographs in the picnic grove from 2:30 – 3:30 pm.
o Nelson will also call out "Rider's Up"- the indication for jockeys to mount and the horses to make their way toward the racetrack during the event's live broadcast.
.Food truck pop-ups from notable local favorites, including Chickie's and Pete's
.Mummers from the Uptown String Band will greet guests upon arrival, playing from 10:30 am-12:30 pm.
