Considering Matthew Shepard, Concert for a Cause | Pride Month
This fresh, emotional oratorio honors the life and legacy of Matthew Shepard, who was the victim of one of America’s most notorious anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes. The work incorporates Matt’s words, interviews with his parents, newspaper accounts of his murder, and soul-rending poems into a piece called “powerfully cathartic” and “a deeply moving experience.”
As this season’s “Concert for a Cause,” a portion of proceeds from these concerts will be shared with SunServe, a local organization providing critical life assistance and mental health services to the most vulnerable members of South Florida’s LGBTQ+ community.
Students with ID can claim complimentary tickets at will-call the day of the concerts as available.
