Sol Ruiz: Positive Vibration Nation

Join Miami Light Project for the world premiere "Positive Vibration Nation," an evening-length rock guaguanco opera created by Sol Ruiz, with direction by Teo Castellanos and choreography by Sandra Portal-Andreu. Blending live performance with integrated technology, the new work fuses sound, visual art, costume, dance, and music with Caribbean influences to investigate contemporary issues, explore Miami’s cultural singularity, and convey a positive message to audiences. Positive Vibration Nation features an ensemble of Miami-based Latinx artists and performers including: Sol Ruiz (as La Barbara), Rey Rodriguez (as Rey Sugar), Carlos Jose Martinez (as Octoman), Alejandro Sierra (as Alibaba), Nayah Mericier (dance performance), Nicole Machado (dance performance), Fernando Perdomo (guitar) and Fernando Abad (piano & synths). Artistic collaborators include Greth Castillo (media and films), Winston Vargas (lighting), Beth Gladen (sound design) and Celia Ledon (costume design).
