2025 Youth Leadership Institute


United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention’s Broward Youth Coalition (BYC) will host its annual Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), virtually on Tuesday, June 10 (virtual), and in-person on Thursday, June 12 at Florida Atlantic University’s Davie Campus.

·  This FREE, 2-Day FUN event for 6th –12th graders, will focus on mental health promotion, public speaking, youth advocacy, and substance use prevention. The event will also feature special guests, Zumba, interactive workshops, and prizes.

·  The virtual event on Day 1 (June 10) will include Part 1 of both the peer-to-peer sessions and Kahoot virtual games with a chance to win prizes.

·  The in-person event on Day 2 (June 12) will include a workshop with featured keynote speaker and Emmy-nominated singer and songwriter Alexander Star, a public speaking workshop presented by Renee Hope Cooper, and participants will discover how to authentically connect with others when presenting using a series of fun and proven techniques. Additional optional sessions such as mindfulness, yoga and Zumba are also available!

·       Participants will have the chance to earn community service hours and participate in fun ways for a chance to earn special prizes and giveaways.

Day 2 – Live,  In-person

Thursday June 12, 2025; 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
