Featured in this exhibition is a focused collection of recent glass sculptures by Nancy Callan, which just arrived from the artist’s studio. Callan's work explores connections between glass and fabric through soft, sanded surfaces, thread-like cane, and a flowing sense of movement that recalls the qualities of textiles.
Alongside Callan’s work, Back to School highlights recent works by Natalya Burd, Nathan Lynch, and Dharma Strasser MacColl, three Bay Area artists who are among the newest additions to the gallery’s roster. Working across painting, porcelain sculpture, and wall-based works, each brings a distinct approach to material, process, and form.
Together, the exhibition offers a focused look at the materials, forms, and ideas central to these four artists’ practices.
