Complemento

Is he a childhood friend, a conman, a vagabond, or a blessing in disguise? Complemento is a mysterious yet charming character who eavesdrops on people in the park, and suddenly appears to offer his help if he senses there is a problem. Affairs of the heart are his specialty, and though he has angelic qualities, Complemento does not hesitate to behave like a scoundrel to accomplish his mission of mending broken hearts by becoming what others lack. Complemento was originally performed as a radio play on La Radiodifusora Nacional, the national radio company where Rafael Guizado served as the founding director. The first stage production was by Colombia's national theatre, la Compañia Nacional de Teatro, at the Teatro Colón. This award-winning translation is the work of Rafael Guizado's granddaughter, Gigi, who is a theatre artist residing in Nevada. Excerpts of the script have been published in Another Chicago Magazine. Gigi's translation of this play was featured at the Out of the Wings 2019 festival in London, England; and its world premiere was presented by Asylum Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. Latitude Theatre and eSe Teatro are proud to present the play's West Coast Premiere.
