Seattle Symphony supporters at the Founders Circle level and above are invited to enjoy a lecture on Sergei Eisenstein’s 1925 silent film Battleship Potemkin, presented in collaboration with the Seattle International Film Festival. One of the most influential films of all time, Battleship Potemkin is a powerful story of oppression, mutiny and triumph, with a score that has been rewritten throughout the generations.
Conductor Frank Strobel will share insight into the striking collage of Shostakovich symphonies he created for the film’s soundtrack, to be performed during the Symphony's concerts, along with commentary from Seattle University Film & Media Studies Instructor John Trafton. Attendees will have a chance to mingle with SIFF supporters at a post-lecture reception.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
