Street artist Chris Boss confronts subjects of infamy in pop culture that have become increasingly lionized for our entertainment. Inspired by the composition and styling of Chuck Close’s “Big Self Portrait”, he marries contrasts in lighting to a framework of black paint, creating the illusion of a hyperrealistic stencil. Dot by dot, Boss fills the negative space where contrasts in lighting do not reach.
He currently resides and exhibits his work in the New York Metropolitan area.
Represented by Gallery 151 and operated by wallplay, High-Contrast OnCanal marks his debut solo show.
