Three immersive performances will enchant and delight audiences through sound, stunning visuals and inspired choreography.
Created for the then-new School of American Ballet, George Balanchine’s “Serenade” is set to Tchaikovsky's “Serenade for Strings in C.” Romantic and ethereal (and well-known for its long, blue tulle costumes), “Serenade” is a celebration of the ensemble of dancers, rather than the individual. While “Serenade” has been performed countless times since its debut in 1934, this is the first time PNB has performed the piece in 10 years.
Alexei Ratmansky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” continues the triple bill. Vivid and nuanced, the dance is a lively celebration of art set to the music of Mussorgsky. Completing the triad is the world premiere of a new piece by PNB resident choreographer Jessica Lang entitled “Pages.”
From iconic works by famous ballet legends to groundbreaking new pieces by contemporary choreographers, there’s something for everyone from PNB this fall.
