46th Annual Green River Depression-Era Glass Show & Sale

The 46th Annual Green River Glass Show & Sale is the last remaining showcase for vintage glass, art pottery, china, jewelry and home goods in the Pacific NW. More than 200 tables will be selling pieces from all eras -- from Early American to Depression/Elegant Glass to Mid-20th Century Modern -- made by America's greatest glass houses, such as Fenton, Fostoria, Westmoreland, Northwood, US Glass, Indiana, Blenko, Jeannette and others. Regional clubs will also host displays: Fenton Finders of Puget Sound, Northwest Heisey Collectors Club, Green River Depression-Era Glass Club, and Carnival Glass collectors from around the PNW. Author and recognized glass expert Randy Coe will be on hand for glass identification (limit 2 pieces per attendee), and Lorna Brown-Hendrickson will be available to consult on costume jewelry repair and restoration. Free prize drawings throughout the day; raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win your choice of a contemporary art-glass lamp or a 1920s-era Fenton drink set. For those looking to build a reference library, there will be a large book sale as well. Admission is $5, with this year's show proceeds benefiting local social service organizations: Auburn Respite Program which focuses on providing family caregivers with a break and dependent adults with a social outlet with an eye to keeping them in their homes as long as possible; Terrific Tuesday Community Meals, a group serving hot meals to seniors, families, the homeless, and others in need; and various hospice care programs for families and individuals needing end-of-life care and services. In the past 10 years, the club has donated more than $20,000 to health and human services in local communities. The show takes place at the Kent Commons (525 4th Ave. N., Kent, WA) from 9 am to 4 pm. Kent Commons is an ADA-compliant facility, and free parking is available onsite, or nearby in the Regional Justice Center covered garage. Admission, raffle and book sales are cash-only, purchase methods for goods are at the dealer's discretion. Recommend bringing all forms of payment to avoid last-minutes scrambles. ATMs located in Kent Station or nearby banks. Glass and books can add on the weight, so consider bringing a suitcase on wheels or sturdy carry-alls. Dealers will generally wrap glass, which offers some protection, but for the best protection bring along some bubble wrap or puppy pads. Glass show goers will have an extra opportunity to shop for treasures at Kent Commons: Feb. 24 also is the date of the Washington Bottle and Collectors show, featuring rare bottles, breweriana, WA Territory antiques, insulators, whiskey bottles, advertising, and more. Early entry from 8-10 am is $10 at the door, after which the show admission is free until the doors close at 4 pm.
