2024 SNOHOMISH COUNTY MASTER GARDENER WINTER SPEAKER SERIES “The Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation is excited to announce its 2024 fundraising season. It is our Twenty First Annual Winter Speaker Series and we are once again meeting in person! The lecture series features eight celebrity gardeners, authors, and experts sharing their knowledge on a variety of gardening subjects. Whatever the topic, they are always entertaining and educational. Plus they are a great break from the winter doldrums! January 12th - “January Jewels- Color for the Winter Garden!“, John Christianson, reputation for showcasing outstanding ornamentals at his nursery, a 7-acre jewel in the Skagit Valley. Plants for sale! January 26th - “Organic Vegetables, Critters & Vertical Growing”, Lisa Taylor, plant enthusiast, passionate teacher, author of “Maritime NW Garden Guide”, consultant, and speaker. February 9th - “The Role of Seed Banking in Native Conservation”, Wendy Gibble, Assoc. director of UW Botanic Gardens and manager of Rare Care Program. February 23rd - “Rabbits in the Garden!”, Trevor Cameron, certified “plantophile”, Certified Professional Horticulturist and GM at Sunnyside Nursery in Marysville. March 1st - “Islands in Bloom: Floral Diversity & Stewardship in the San Juan Islands”, Madrona Murphy, botanist and lab manager for Kwiaht, specializing in plant-human interactions. March 15th - “A Gardener’s Guide to Hostas”, Lore Sampson, a nurseryman’s daughter, propagator, small specialty nursery owner, grows more than 150 varieties of hosta. March 22nd - “How to Plant a Prune-Less Garden”, Christina Pfeiffer, well-known PNW author and horticulture educator in landscape horticulture. Books for sale! April 5th - “The Changing Garden & Changing Gardener”, Marianne Binetti author, host of radio and TV, writes a syndicated newspaper column. All lectures held at NEW location! EVERETT STATION, Weyerhaeuser Room, 4th floor, 3201 Smith Avenue, Everett. $20 for single sessions at the door.
