Feel the power of live orchestral music when the Everett Philharmonic is joined by guest conductor Julia Tai for an afternoon of sound, energy, and emotion. From moments of intimate beauty to sweeping, triumphant grandeur, this concert showcases the orchestra at its most expressive – bold, precise, and deeply moving.
The afternoon will begin with the thrilling virtuosity of Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. Then mezzo-soprano Gail Neil will take center stage to sing three Mozart arias, equal parts sparkling, charming, and comforting. Between the arias, the orchestra will perform a sunny and elegant interlude by Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a contemporary of Mozart whose music radiates Classical grace and vitality.
After intermission, luxuriate in Beethoven’s heroic Third Symphony, the Eroica. Wrestling with fate and the full range of human emotion, Beethoven launches the symphony with a volatile first movement, followed by a solemn funeral march, a joyful scherzo, and a triumphant fourth movement that builds to an exuberant finale.
