Laurie Frankel with Claire Dederer
Beloved local author and friend of the store Laurie Frankel launches her latest novel Family Family. She'll be joined in conversation by fellow Seattle luminary Claire Dederer, author most recently of the popular Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma.
In Family Family, India Allwood grew up wanting to be an actor. Armed with a stack of index cards (for research/line memorization/make-shift confetti), she goes from awkward sixteen-year-old to Broadway ingenue to TV superhero.
Her new movie is a prestige picture about adoption, but its spin is the same old tired story of tragedy. India is an adoptive mom in real life though. Claire Dederer is the author of Love and Trouble, and the New York Times best-selling memoir Poser: My Life in Twenty-Three Yoga Poses, which has been translated into twelve languages.
