A testimony to the deep connection we share with the important people in our lives, a good family story can make us laugh out loud or bring a tear to our eye, no matter how many times we’ve heard it. Now, Thread Playback Theater Troupe wants to listen to yours. Sarasota's homegrown playback theatre troupe, Thread!, performs regularly in Southwest Florida under the guidance of internationally renowned director Olga Sanachina. The talented troupe of performers take audience stories and, on the spot, portrays them on stage with acting, dancing, singing, and improvised, original live music. Serving communities throughout Florida, the nine-player troupe Thread! are masters of playback theatre, a unique combination of improvisational theatre, music, and storytelling techniques developed during the theatrical form's 50-year history. Each performance is carefully crafted to connect audience members and players in surprising ways that no other art form can. Earning rave reviews at venues throughout Southwest Florida, including a powerful show at Sarasota's storied Asolo Repertory Theatre last year, Thread! is at the forefront of a revival in this theatrical art form that has proven to be a powerful tool for bringing people around the world together.
